Ascend by TGP (“Ascend”, “we”, “us”, “our”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.

By accessing or using our services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this Policy.

This Policy applies to all users of Ascend by TGP located in Canada or elsewhere who access our web application or related services (the “Service”).

We collect and process the following categories of information:

a. Account Information

Name, email address, and login credentials.

If you choose to sign in via third-party services (e.g., Google or LinkedIn), we receive basic profile information from those providers as permitted by your privacy settings.

b. User Profile and Preferences

Information you provide within the app, such as your academic level, goals, interests, region, and learning preferences.

Optional data you input for recommendations, such as budget, location radius, or accessibility needs.

c. Technical Information

Automatically collected information such as device type, browser, and timestamped usage events stored by our backend provider (Supabase).

No cookies or third-party analytics are currently in use; however, we may implement privacy-compliant analytics tools in the future to improve functionality and measure engagement.

d. Inferred or Generated Data

AI-based models within Ascend process anonymized input data to generate insights (e.g., personality or interest profiles). These outputs are used to recommend educational programs or pathways.

We use collected information for the following purposes:

- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service;

- To provide personalized educational recommendations;

- To communicate with you about your account or updates;

- To ensure security, detect fraud, or enforce our Terms of Service;

- To develop future features, including analytics and premium functionality.

We process your personal information based on your consent, or as necessary to provide and improve the Service you have requested.

All data is securely stored and processed using Supabase, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Canada (Central region).

We do not sell or rent user data to third parties. If analytics or AI tools are introduced in the future, these will comply with applicable privacy standards and data residency requirements.

We may disclose your personal information only as necessary:

- To trusted service providers who support our infrastructure (e.g., Supabase);

- To comply with applicable laws, court orders, or government requests;

- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Ascend, our users, or the public.

Our Service is intended for individuals aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that information has been collected from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Users may request account deletion at any time by contacting us at the email below.

We implement appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You may access, update, or delete your personal information by contacting us. You also have the right to withdraw consent for non-essential data processing.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The “Effective Date” at the top will indicate the latest version. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
